Mission statement:

2nd Timothy 1:6-7

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us the spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline.

As the ministry of Born to Serve we hope to be able to win souls to Christ through dance and drama. We hope to get all our members who are not yet born again to be born again and confess Christ as LORD. We also hope to influence the church to be believers through dance and drama.

Theme:

Psalm 19:14

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O lord, my rock and my redeemer

This year as a ministry we aim to ensure that everything we do this year will be able to be pleasing before the LORD and also draw others to Christ in the process.

Vision:

Malachi 3:18

And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

As a dance team it is so easy to get caught up with the worldly trends and dancing moves that are not pleasing to God. It is essential that we realize that we are not of the World though we are in the world and therefore our vision for this year is that there should be a difference between us who are dancing and praising God and those who are not.

Memory verse:

Psalm 86:11

Teach me, your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name.

Memory chapter:

Psalm 23

23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Purpose:

Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is –his good, pleasing and prefect will.

This is because when dancing people often get carried away and forget the reason why they are dancing and tend to self exalt or they don’t listen to the type of song they just dance and we know that songs are very tricky therefore it is very essential that us as ministers of God’s word should ask for wisdom from God while choosing which songs to dance to and let the songs minister to us before the song can minister to others.

Motto:

Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the as you see the Day approaching.

In the bible it is said that we should praise God with singing and dancing and as members of the Born to Serve Ministry we would like to spur each other into good works through meeting together and dancing together to encourage each other as we see the Day of the Lord approaching

.

T-shirt:

We are hoping to acquire new T-shirts for the ministry.

Drama/ dance/ skits

We are hoping that this semester will be full of skits and we hope to have a play at the end of the semester which will help us to be able to effectively minister the word of God as it will be a culmination of the semester’s activities.

Bonding session:

As the Born to Serve ministry we have our bonding sessions in form of exercises that take place every Saturday from 7.00am till 9.00am then a breakfast at 10.00am that ends at 11.45am then we head to the palace for the meeting. The aim of this is to be able to bring us together and bring unity in the ministry and also enable us to get to know each other and where members of the ministry live.

We are planning to have two parties for the members of the ministry one on Sunday 28th of March which will be the Born to Serve Sunday. And the other one on 25th of April that will be the last Sunday of the month of April.

Meetings and seminars:

We plan to have someone talk to us about the role of dance and drama in worship. Then we also are planning on inviting people to talk to us between 7.05pm to 7.20pm before the meeting and start our meeting at exactly 7.30pm.
